H2 Invest Presents Study on Liquid Hydrogen Logistics at UNECE

In late April 2026, H2 Invest presented its study Hydrogen Logistics in Global Supply Chains: The Role of Liquid Hydrogen during the plenary session of the Group of Experts on Gas under the UNECE Committee on Sustainable Energy at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

The study examines the role of liquid hydrogen in future global supply chains and explores how different transportation models may influence the economics, resilience, and scalability of the hydrogen economy. The report has been published on the UNECE website.

Advancing the Discussion on Hydrogen Logistics

As hydrogen markets continue to evolve, infrastructure decisions made today will shape long-term supply chains. H2 Invest’s study contributes to this discussion by advocating a technology-neutral approach that evaluates multiple logistics pathways based on technical performance, economics, and system resilience.

Rather than promoting a single transportation model, the report examines how different solutions can complement one another under varying geographical, industrial, and market conditions.

Key Topics Covered

The study includes:

  • analysis of global hydrogen transportation scenarios;
  • comparison of alternative logistics models;
  • assessment of pipeline and cryogenic infrastructure;
  • economic evaluation of liquid hydrogen supply chains;
  • analysis of transportation solutions based on CryoSafe-42 technology;
  • assessment of how logistics choices affect supply chain resilience and energy security.

Engineering-Based Analysis

The report combines engineering calculations, logistics modelling, and market analysis to evaluate practical pathways for international hydrogen transportation. It is intended as a technical contribution to the ongoing development of hydrogen infrastructure and the broader dialogue on future energy systems.

“The future hydrogen economy will benefit from competition between technologies, engineering transparency, and objective evaluation of different logistics solutions. Long-term infrastructure should be guided by performance, resilience, and economic viability,” said Victor Medvedev, CEO of H2 Invest.

H2 Invest thanks all contributors and partners who participated in the preparation of the study and continue supporting the development of advanced liquid hydrogen technologies and international hydrogen logistics.
